Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old Professor Segun Aina As New JAMB Registrar
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced on Thursday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Professor Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, becomes the youngest registrar in the history of the examination body at 39 years old.
According to the presidency, the new JAMB registrar is expected to bring his experience in digital infrastructure, institutional reforms, and examination systems management to strengthen the operations of the board.
Oloyede, who was appointed JAMB registrar in 2016, is widely credited with introducing reforms that improved transparency and accountability in the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Aina is expected to assume office after the expiration of Oloyede’s second tenure on July 31, 2026.
