Gov. Otti’s Aide Ugoanusi Leads Team in Thanksgiving as ‘Changing the Narrative’ Campaign Completes Tour of 17 LGAs
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Ugoanusi, on Sunday, August 30, 2026, led members of her team in a thanksgiving service to appreciate God for the successful completion of the “Changing the Narrative” campaign across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
The thanksgiving service, held at the Government House Chapel, Umuahia, provided an opportunity for Hon. Ugoanusi, members of her team, resource persons and other participants to thank God for His protection, guidance and the success recorded throughout the statewide campaign.
Speaking at the service, Hon. Ugoanusi expressed profound gratitude to God for the safety granted her team as they traversed the nooks and crannies of Abia State, taking the message of the need to change the narrative of governance, particularly at the grassroots, to the people across all 17 LGAs.
She noted that throughout the campaign, no casualty or negative incident was recorded, stressing that every member of the team, as well as guests and participants who joined them at different locations, returned safely.
According to her, the successful completion of the tour without any casualty was a testimony to God’s mercy, grace and protection.
The Governor’s aide also expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, for his visionary and transformational leadership, which she described as the golden template that inspired the “Changing the Narrative” campaign.
She said the achievements and governance style of the Otti administration provided a practical reference point during the campaign, particularly in demonstrating how purposeful leadership could positively impact governance at the grassroots.
Hon. Ugoanusi equally thanked the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Uzo Nwachukwu, for his support and contributions throughout the campaign.
She also appreciated other government functionaries who supported the programme and participated in different capacities, particularly those who served as resource persons during the engagements across the 17 Local Government Areas.
Among the government officials who attended the thanksgiving service were the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti; the Accountant-General of Abia State, Dr. Mrs. Njum Uma-Onyemenam, FCA; the Senior Adviser to the Governor on Investment Promotion and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) , High Chief Green Amankwe; the Commissioner representing the state at the Civil Service Commission, Dr. Iroy Orji; and the Umuahia Zonal Manager of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Catechist Ambrose Jonah, among other government officials.
The thanksgiving service also featured individual expressions of gratitude from some of the resource persons who participated in the “Changing the Narrative” campaign.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Prof. Ijeoma Iheukwumere; the Special Assistant to the Governor on Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hon. Chief Matilda Anyamele; and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Technology and Innovation, Hon. Chibuzor Elizabeth, each took turns to thank God for His protection and for the successful completion of the statewide campaign.
In their separate thanksgiving remarks, the resource persons reflected on their experiences during the tour and expressed gratitude to God for seeing the team safely through the extensive engagements across the state.
Hon. Magdalene Ugoanusi thereafter rounded off the thanksgiving service alongside members of her personal staff — Ms. Precious, Mr. Ugochukwu, Mr. Martins, Mrs. Ahuruchi and Mr. Lawrence Fred — offering thanks to God for the successful completion of the campaign.
The service ended with a renewed sense of gratitude and commitment to the ideals of the “Changing the Narrative” campaign, particularly the promotion of responsible leadership, effective grassroots governance and greater engagement with the people.
The completion of the campaign’s tour of all 17 Local Government Areas marks a significant milestone in the initiative, which sought to deepen public understanding of the importance of good governance and encourage a positive transformation in grassroots administration across Abia State.
