ABIA STATE INDIGENES IN THE FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION PAY A CONGRATULATORY VISIT TO HON. HIGH – CHIEF VICTOR CHIEDOZIE IKEJI, Ph.D
It was indeed a colourful, dignified, and memorable occasion as Abia State Indigenes serving in the Federal Character Commission, Abuja, converged in large numbers to pay a congratulatory visit to their distinguished Honourable Commissioner representing Abia State, Hon. High Chief Victor Ikeji, Ph.D, in his office in Abuja.
The atmosphere of the visit reflected warmth, unity, and deep admiration, as members came together in a spirit of brotherhood and shared purpose to honour a man widely regarded as a refined administrator and disciplined public servant.
The visit commenced with a solemn opening prayer led by Mr. Ezuruonye Sunday, who passionately committed the gathering, the Commissioner, and the future of Abia State Indigenes into the hands of God Almighty. This spiritual invocation set a reverent tone for the proceedings, underscoring the group’s dependence on divine guidance.
Following the prayer, formal introductions of members were conducted, after which Mr. Uchenna Anyanwoke addressed the Honourable Commissioner. He stated that the essence of the visit was to celebrate and congratulate him on his well-deserved appointment as Commissioner representing Abia State at the Federal Character Commission.
He pledged a harmoniously working relationship with the Commissioner in advancing the collective interests of Abia State and emphasized the need for unity of purpose, stressing that through cooperation and mutual trust, the issue of marginalization affecting Abia State indigenes could be effectively addressed.
Mr. Anyanwoke also appealed to the Honourable Commissioner to continue to serve as a father figure and moral compass to all Abia State Indigenes within the Commission and beyond. He described him as a man of integrity, discipline, and excellence, a “goal getter per excellence,” praying that his tenure would be fruitful, impactful, and historically significant.
In her remarks, the Leader of Abia State Indigenes in the Commission and Director of Planning and Strategy, Dr. Rita Ebele Onyali, warmly welcomed the Honourable Commissioner on behalf of all members. She expressed deep joy in joining thousands of well-wishers to celebrate his appointment, describing it as a moment of pride for Abia State.
She reaffirmed the group’s commitment to working closely with him to promote excellence and ensure that Abia State Indigenes continue to distinguish themselves positively within the Commission. She emphasized the values of love, unity, and harmony, noting that collective progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect.
Dr. Onyali further described the Honourable Commissioner as a seasoned administrator, erudite scholar, and a man of unwavering principles, whose reputation precedes him in all spheres of service. She assured him of continuous prayers and support in all his endeavors.
Other members present took turns to eulogize the Commissioner, describing him as a transformational leader whose assumption of office on 22nd January, 2026 has already begun to yield visible positive changes in administrative culture and workplace discipline.
In his response, the Honourable Commissioner expressed profound gratitude to all Abia State Indigenes in the Federal Character Commission for their thoughtful gesture and solidarity. He acknowledged the significance of their visit as a demonstration of unity and shared identity.
He noted that while he does not believe in self-praise, his record of service across various institutions speaks for itself, as he has consistently left behind legacies of discipline, efficiency, and institutional strengthening. He observed that although his leadership style may have been perceived as strict by some, it is now widely recognized as result-oriented and impactful.
He reminded the gathering that leadership is transient, emphasizing that no position is permanent. Hence, every opportunity must be maximized for the service of humanity and the greater good of society.
The Commissioner further stated that he is a man who believes in transparency, accountability, and open-door leadership. He assured members that fairness would always guide his decisions, and that genuine concerns would be addressed with sincerity and due process.




He encouraged the group to work in synergy with the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, in advancing reforms aimed at strengthening institutional effectiveness and improving the image of the Commission.
He further emphasized the importance of unity, stating that all staff should see themselves as one family working towards a common national objective.
To mark the occasion, Abia State Indigenes presented a congratulatory card to the Honourable Commissioner in recognition and appreciation of his appointment. The Commissioner received the gesture with great delight and expressed heartfelt appreciation.
