UMUAWA-ALAOCHA KIDNAP: GOV. OTTI’S AIDE VISITS RESCUED NKWOACHARA VICTIMS, COMMENDS YOUTH BRAVERY AND COMMUNITY UNITY
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Abia State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Egondu Ugoanusi, alongside the Umuahia North Coordinator of Abia Arise, Hon. Ndukwe Agwu (Sanchez), has visited the kidnapped victims from Nkwoachara Ward in Ohuhu, Mrs. Onyinyechi Ekechukwu and Izuchukwu Okechi, who were recently rescued following a coordinated community effort.
The victims were abducted while returning from their farm on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, but were successfully rescued through the combined efforts of local youths, community leaders, and security personnel.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Ugoanusi commended the bravery and resilience of the youths and people of Umuawa-Alaocha, led by the community’s President-General, Hon. Nelcinn Chimex Uluocha, for their swift response and unwavering determination to ensure the safe return of the victims.
She described the rescue operation as a shining example of community vigilance, collective responsibility, and the strength that comes from unity of purpose.
The Governor’s aide also praised the President-General of Umunakaru-Alaike, Chukwunenye Nwaubani, who doubles as the Chairman of the Labour Party Nkwoachara Stakeholders Forum, for mobilizing support from neighbouring communities to strengthen the rescue effort.
According to her, the solidarity demonstrated by the people of Umunakaru-Alaike, Umuire, and other allied communities played a significant role in the successful operation, proving that a united people can effectively confront security challenges.
Hon. Ugoanusi further appreciated the efforts of the National Forest Guard under the leadership of Chief Francis Nnabuihe Onuoha and other security agencies for their timely intervention and collaboration throughout the operation.
She equally acknowledged the support of youths from neighbouring communities, including Umuda, Umuosu, and Akpahia, for standing shoulder to shoulder with the people of Umuawa-Alaocha to ensure that criminal elements did not triumph.
The Governor’s aide extended special commendation to the Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency, Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, for his prompt support and encouragement to the youths during the rescue mission.
Hon. Ugoanusi noted that the events surrounding the rescue have once again demonstrated the spirit of brotherhood, unity, and peaceful coexistence that characterizes the people of the Nkwoachara, urging communities to sustain the synergy between local leadership, security agencies, and residents in safeguarding lives and property.
She expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful rescue of the victims and prayed for continued peace and security across Nkwoachara Ward, Ohuhu, and Abia State at large.
