Three Arraigned Over Alleged Murder of Abuja Businessman Adimike Godwin | Viewers Discretion
More than eight weeks after the killing of Abuja businessman Adimike Godwin at his residence in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the case has entered a new phase with the arraignment of three suspects before the FCT High Court.
The incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after a relative of the deceased reported to the Guzape Divisional Headquarters that repeated attempts to reach him had failed. Police detectives responded to the distress call and found Godwin lying unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered a comprehensive investigation. Five suspects were initially arrested in connection with the case, including Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, Comfort Ajibade, the deceased’s driver and his gateman.
At the conclusion of investigations, the police charged Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade before the FCT High Court 13.
The three defendants were arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
According to the charge, all three defendants are jointly accused of conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide in relation to the death of Adimike Godwin. Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was also separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, contrary to the provisions of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The court ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing of the case and adjourned further proceedings to September 30, 2026.
The FCT Police Command said it remains committed to pursuing justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process.
