HON. ANDERSON KELECHI AKALIRO: THREE YEARS OF IMPACTFUL SERVICE AND A REBUTTAL TO BASELESS CRITICISMS

The recent publication by Chief Ogwuru Darlington describing Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro as a “political disaster” in Ohuhu land is not only unfair but fails to acknowledge the verifiable contributions he has made towards the development and empowerment of the people of Ohuhu.

Political discourse should be built on facts rather than sweeping generalisations. While every public office holder is open to criticism, such criticism must be objective and take into account the realities of governance and the measurable impact of leadership.

Contrary to the claims that Hon. Anderson Akaliro has failed the people, his three years of active political service have been marked by significant interventions in infrastructure, youth development, education, security, and economic empowerment.

Among his notable achievements is his role in attracting and facilitating the construction of the Afor-Umuda Market, Ofeme, a project designed to stimulate local commerce, create opportunities for traders, and improve economic activities within the community.

Recognising the importance of security for sustainable development, Hon. Akaliro also attracted the construction of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Divisional Headquarters in Ohuhu. This project strengthens local security architecture and enhances the protection of lives and property.

His commitment to improving access to justice and strengthening public institutions is evident in the attraction of the High Court Building at Nkwoegwu, bringing judicial services closer to the people and reducing the burden associated with seeking legal redress outside the community.

Understanding the economic challenges faced by many families, Hon. Akaliro facilitated access to both Federal and State Government grants for Ohuhu business owners and entrepreneurs, helping many small and medium-scale enterprises expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Believing that human capital development is essential for long-term progress, he introduced and supported a Radio Training Programme, equipping young people with practical broadcasting and communication skills while opening new pathways for employment and self-reliance.

Education has also remained one of his priorities. Through the Annual Ohuhu Spelling Bee Competition, he has consistently promoted academic excellence, healthy competition among students, and the development of intellectual capacity among the younger generation.

Furthermore, Hon. Akaliro facilitated the registration of over 300 constituents in various empowerment and social intervention programmes, ensuring that many vulnerable members of the community had access to opportunities and government support initiatives.

Beyond these visible projects, he has remained accessible to the people, providing mentorship to young politicians, supporting community initiatives, promoting peaceful coexistence, and serving as a bridge between Ohuhu and various governmental institutions.

It is therefore inaccurate to describe a leader with such a record of service as a “political disaster.”

Political performance should not be measured by rhetoric or partisan sentiments but by tangible contributions to the welfare of the people.

The developmental challenges facing Ohuhu cannot reasonably be attributed to one individual.

Infrastructure deficits, unemployment, and economic concerns are collective governance issues requiring collaboration across all levels of government and stakeholders. To single out Hon. Anderson Akaliro for these longstanding challenges ignores this reality.

Rather than engaging in politics of condemnation, the people of Ohuhu should recognise and encourage leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to community development while challenging them to do even more. Constructive criticism strengthens democracy; character assassination weakens it.

The facts remain clear. In the last three years, Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro has contributed to the development of Ohuhu through infrastructure, security enhancement, educational support, youth empowerment, business development, and social intervention programmes.

These achievements stand as evidence of purposeful leadership and a genuine commitment to the welfare of his people.

History will not judge leaders by the volume of criticisms against them but by the positive impact they leave on their communities.

Judged by this standard, Hon. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro’s record reflects service, commitment, and meaningful contributions to the growth and development of Ohuhu land.

Three years of service. Three years of impact. Three years of standing with the people of Ohuhu. The record speaks louder than political rhetoric.
