Otti’s TechRise Revolution: NCS Abia Chairman Applauds Automatic Jobs for 19 Graduates
The Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Abia State Chapter, Hon. Uwaga Hope C, FNCS, MCPN, has commended Governor Alex Chioma Otti for what he described as a visionary investment in the digital future of Abia State.
Uwaga, in a statement, praised the Governor’s approval of automatic employment into the Abia State Civil Service for the 19 best-performing graduates of the TechRise ICT Skills Development Programme, Cohort 3.
According to him, the decision demonstrates that excellence, innovation and hard work are being rewarded under the present administration.
He also commended the state government for approving a ₦100,000 grant for each of the 850 graduates of the programme and allowing them to retain the laptops used during their training.
The NCS chairman said the plan to integrate some of the young ICT talents into government technology projects was equally significant, describing the measures as strategic investments in human capital, digital transformation and the future of Abia.
Of particular importance, Uwaga noted, is Governor Otti’s plan to introduce a special salary structure for ICT professionals in the Abia State Civil Service.
He described the proposed salary structure as a bold recognition of the growing importance of technology professionals in modern governance, public service delivery and economic development.
“As the NCS Abia Chapter Chairman, I consider this development worthy of our highest commendation,” Uwaga said, adding that the Governor had demonstrated that deliberate investment in young people, skills and technology could produce benefits far beyond individual beneficiaries.
He congratulated the 850 TechRise Cohort 3 graduates, particularly the 19 outstanding graduates who earned automatic employment into the state civil service.
Uwaga expressed optimism that the initiative would inspire more young Abians to embrace technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
He said: “Together, we are building a digitally enabled Abia and a better future for all.”
The TechRise initiative, he added, represents the kind of sustained investment in digital skills and young people capable of positioning Abia State for greater participation in the technology-driven global economy.
