Gov. Otti’s Aide, Hon. Ugoanusi, Calls for Collective Community Action on Security, Donates ₦1 Million to Boost Umuawa-Alaocha Security Initiative
The Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Magdalene Egondu Ugoanusi, has called for greater community collaboration in tackling insecurity, stressing that safeguarding lives and property is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of every stakeholder.
Hon. Ugoanusi made the call on Monday, June 29, 2026, during the launch of the ₦50 million Community Security Support Fund by the people of Umuawa-Alaocha in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
Addressing community leaders, residents, and guests at the event, the Governor’s aide, who is also a daughter of Umuawa-Alaocha, commended the community leadership for initiating the security fund, describing it as a proactive and people-oriented response to the growing security challenges facing rural communities.
She emphasized that government alone cannot effectively combat insecurity without the active support and cooperation of local communities. According to her, residents must remain vigilant, promptly share credible information with security agencies, and continue to support community-based security initiatives capable of complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies.
To demonstrate her commitment to the initiative, Hon. Ugoanusi announced a donation of ₦1 million towards the Community Security Support Fund, expressing confidence that the project would significantly strengthen the operational capacity of the community’s security architecture.
She also urged sons and daughters of Umuawa-Alaocha, both at home and in the diaspora, as well as friends of the community, to contribute generously towards achieving the ₦50 million target, noting that collective investment in security remains the surest path to lasting peace, sustainable development, and the protection of lives and property.
The Community Security Support Fund is expected to finance the procurement of operational vehicles, motorcycles, surveillance cameras, communication gadgets, and other security equipment, while supporting the recruitment and training of additional personnel for the community vigilante outfit.
