FG Opens Applications for Power Force Programme, Invites 5,000 Youths to Become Certified Meter Installers

The Federal Government has officially commenced applications for the first batch of its Power Force programme under the Presidential Metering Initiative (PMI), aimed at training and certifying 5,000 young Nigerians as electricity meter installers and technicians.

Applications opened on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and are expected to remain open for two weeks. The initiative is designed to bridge Nigeria’s metering gap, reduce estimated electricity billing, and create employment opportunities for young Nigerians.

Successful applicants will undergo free technical training coordinated by the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) and receive certification to participate in the nationwide deployment of electricity meters.

To be eligible, applicants are expected to have:

  • A valid National Identification Number (NIN)
  • SSCE or an equivalent qualification
  • A valid email address
  • An active phone number

The Federal Government stressed that the application process is completely free and warned applicants not to pay anyone for registration.

Interested and qualified Nigerians can submit their applications through the official Presidential Metering Initiative application portal:

pmi.naptin.gov.ng

Applicants are advised to complete only one application, as multiple submissions may lead to disqualification.
