APC Abia Governorship Ticket to Central Senatorial District Ahead of 2027 Polls
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has officially zoned its governorship ticket for the 2027 general elections to the Abia Central Senatorial District.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, who said the decision is aimed at promoting equity, justice, and balanced representation within the state.
According to the statement, the zoning arrangement is intended to guide party members and aspirants in the process of purchasing Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms ahead of the elections.
The party explained that the move aligns with the long-standing informal power rotation principle among Abia’s three senatorial districts—Abia North, Abia South, and Abia Central—since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999.
It further noted that the current State Chairman of the APC is from Abia North, while Abia South produced the immediate past governor, making it equitable for Abia Central to produce the next governor under the party’s platform.
The APC leadership in the state appealed to aspirants and stakeholders from other zones to respect the zoning decision and support the party’s collective goal of securing victory in the 2027 governorship election.
The party also called for unity and cooperation among members, stressing the importance of internal cohesion as preparations intensify for the polls.
