APC Aspirants, Well Meaning Stakeholders Reject Alleged Plot To Overturn Umuahia North Assembly Primary Results

Some aspirants and well meaning stakeholders who participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primaries for Umuahia North State Constituency held yesterday Wednesday 20th May, 2026 have raised alarm over an alleged move by a stakeholder in Ohuhu APC to overturn the outcome of the exercise conducted on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The aggrieved aspirants insisted that the primary election was peaceful, credible and reflected the genuine wishes of party faithfuls who participated in the process, warning against what they described as attempts to substitute the winner with a candidate who lost at the polls.

Speaking on behalf of the concerned aspirants, Surv. Jeffrey Ogbudu said any effort to alter the result would undermine the integrity of the party and erode confidence in its internal democratic process.

According to him, the aspirants are united in their demand that the candidate who legitimately emerged victorious in the primaries should be allowed to fly the APC flag in the 2027 general election.

Ogbudu alleged that a certain party stakeholder is mounting pressure to influence the final outcome of the exercise in favour of another aspirant who failed to secure victory during the primaries.

The group warned that imposing a candidate against the wishes of party faithfuls could trigger disaffection among party members and create avoidable division within the APC in Umuahia North State Constituency.

They maintained that the APC, as a ruling political party, must demonstrate fairness, transparency and commitment to democratic values by respecting the outcome of its internal electoral process.

The aspirants therefore called on the state and national leadership of the party to ensure that the authentic winner of the primary election is officially recognised and presented as the party’s candidate.

They also appealed to party supporters and members to remain calm and law-abiding while expressing confidence that justice would prevail in the matter.

Ogbudu further stated that no official result had been released at the time of the statement and urged members of the public to disregard claims by any individual declaring himself winner of the primaries pending the official announcement by the party.
