ABIA APC ACCUSES OTTI ADMINISTRATION OF MEDIA PROPAGANDA, QUESTIONS PROJECT SPENDING DURING GOMEP VISIT

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the administration of Governor Alex Otti of engaging in media propaganda aimed at creating a false impression of performance, despite what the opposition party described as inadequate development across the state.

The allegation was made by the Abia APC Publicity Secretary, High- Chief Uche Aguoru, while addressing the leadership of the Guide of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP) during an interactive session.

Aguoru alleged that the state government has relied heavily on media campaigns and social media content creators to project an image of progress, insisting that the level of development on the ground does not correspond with the revenue accrued by the state in recent years.

According to him, the Abia State Government has received more than ₦2 trillion from internally generated revenue, federal allocations, and other statutory sources within the last three years. He challenged the administration to provide evidence of projects that justify the volume of funds allegedly received during the period.

“The government has continued to spend enormous resources on media propaganda while the realities on the ground tell a different story. We challenge the administration to show projects that are commensurate with the huge revenues that have accrued to the state,” Aguoru stated.

The APC spokesman further accused the government of lacking transparency in the execution of projects, alleging that details regarding project costs and procurement processes have not been adequately disclosed to the public.

He also claimed that the administration has yet to fully implement the approved national minimum wage for Abia civil servants, describing the situation as unfair to workers who have continued to contribute to the state’s development.

Aguoru maintained that the opposition party would continue to hold the government accountable and ensure that issues affecting the welfare of residents remain at the forefront of public discourse.

Expressing confidence ahead of the next electoral cycle, he declared that the APC is already positioning itself to reclaim power in the state.

“The APC remains committed to providing credible leadership and effective governance. We are confident that the people of Abia will make the right choice in 2027, and we are prepared to take over the reins of government,” he said.

The remarks add to the growing political exchanges between the ruling administration and opposition parties as stakeholders begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections in Abia State.
