Soludo Unveils New Commissioner Nominees
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has unveiled the first batch of commissioner nominees for his second term in office, following the dissolution of his previous cabinet ahead of his swearing-in after re-election in Anambra State.
The new list signals the formal takeoff of his second-term administration, blending continuity with fresh appointments across key ministries.
Leading the nominations is the return of Dr. Law Mefor as Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, a move seen as a reaffirmation of the administration’s communication and public engagement strategy.
The nominations were transmitted to the Anambra State House of Assembly and announced in a statement issued by the Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze, through his Senior Adviser on New Media, Franklin Osankwa.
The Speaker subsequently referred the nominees to the House Committee on Screening and Election Matters for confirmation.
Among the key nominees, Dr. Ben Chuks Odoemena was named for Agriculture, while Mr. Chukwukadibia Okoye, FCCA, is to oversee Budget and Economic Planning. Mr. Udoji Amedu was nominated for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, and Dr. Ekene Ogugua for Education.
Also on the list are Dr. Clem Aguiyi for Environment, Mr. Izuchukwu M. Okafor for Finance, and Dr. Afam Obidike for Health. In the justice sector, Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, was nominated as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, while Professor Offornze Amucheazi, SAN, is to head the Lands ministry.
Further nominations include Barrister Vin Ezeaka for Local Government and Community Affairs, Professor Charles Ofoegbu for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Barrister Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu for Physical Planning and Urban Development.
In infrastructure and energy, Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu was nominated for Power, while Arc. Okey Ezeobi is to oversee Works and Infrastructure. Hon. Eddy Ibuzo was named Commissioner for Transport.
In the social sector, Mrs. Esther Chinyere Onyekesi was nominated for Women Affairs and Social Development, while Mr. Patrick Agha, Mba, is to head Youth Development and Sports.
The development comes after Governor Soludo dissolved his first-term cabinet in line with the transition into his second tenure, setting the stage for the constitution of a new executive council expected to drive his administration’s renewed policy agenda, subject to legislative screening and approval.
