REBUTTAL: NDI -OHUHU NEVER ENDORSED ONYENDI OKWULEHI; THE PURPORTED ENDORSEMENT REMAINS A FIGMENT OF HIS IMAGINATION AND AN EXHIBITION OF HIS STOCK IN TRADE: “DECEIT AND LIES” – CONCERNED NDI- OHUHU RESPONDS
The attention of concerned sons and daughters of Ohuhu has been drawn to a publication titled “2027: Ohuhu Formally Endorses Chief Onyedi Okwulehe.” The sweeping claim that “Ohuhu has spoken” is, at best, misleading and, at worst, a calculated attempt to create a false impression of a non-existent consensus.
For the avoidance of doubt, there has been no verified, documented, or broadly representative meeting of Ohuhu people at which any endorsement of Onyendi Okwulehi and there would never be any such endorsement.
A claim of such magnitude naturally raises fundamental questions that the authors of the statement have failed to answer. Where exactly was this so-called meeting held? Who convened it? Who attended? What was the agenda? Who presided over the meeting? Who recorded the minutes? Where are the photographs or videos of an event purportedly involving “Ohuhu’s finest,” including stakeholders at home and in the diaspora? Which recognised traditional, political, youth, women, religious, or community institutions were represented?
A meeting of such purported significance cannot simply exist in a press statement without any verifiable evidence of its occurrence. The absence of these basic details exposes the hollowness of the claim and reduces it to nothing more than cheap political propaganda designed to manufacture public support where none has been democratically established.
Ohuhu is a community of enlightened and politically conscious people. No individual or group has the authority to arrogate to itself the collective voice of the entire Ohuhu clan or to issue endorsements on behalf of all its people without a transparent, inclusive, and widely acknowledged consultative process.
It is therefore misleading and unacceptable for anyone to suggest that Ohuhu has endorsed Onyendi Okwulehi when there has been no known general meeting, congress, or broadly representative gathering to deliberate on such a matter.
Political aspirations remain personal rights guaranteed in a democracy, but they should not be clothed with fictitious community endorsements.
The people of Ohuhu are capable of making their political choices at the appropriate time through legitimate democratic processes. They do not require the fabrication of imaginary meetings or anonymous endorsements to guide their decisions.
We call on Onyendi Okwulehi and his group to furnish the public with credible evidence of the alleged meeting or withdraw the misleading impression that Ohuhu, as a collective entity, has endorsed any individual, including Onyendi Okwulehi, for the 2027 elections.
Until such evidence is provided, the publication should be regarded for what it appears to be: a desperate attempt to create a bandwagon effect through unfounded claims and cheap propaganda.
Ohuhu has not spoken. When it does, its voice will be heard through credible, transparent, and inclusive processes — not through anonymous virtual meetings shrouded in secrecy.
Maybe this Onyendi Okwulehi’s exhibition of who he is: a man who thrives on falsehood and deceit.
His 2023 action, where he attempted to deceive the people of Ohuhu into believing he was contesting for the state house of assembly, when in reality, he was never a candidate for any political party.
Ahead of the 2027 elections, he reverts to his stock in trade: “lies and deceit.”
Ndi-Ohuhu can clearly see through him; a man who can never be trusted, someone who can lie on the name and people of Ohuhu effortlessly. Can such a character be trusted to speak for our people?
Ndi-Ohuhu must be wary of and avoid this serial political deceiver and ensure that, in 2027, they renew the mandate they already hold.
