Ofeme Women Honour Akaliro with ‘Ome Nma Mba’ Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service

The Ofeme Progressive Union Women’s Wing (Home & Abroad) has honoured the Member representing Umuahia North (Ohuhu) State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Kelechi Akaliro, with an award of recognition for his outstanding leadership, service and contributions to community development.

The prestigious “Ome Nma Mba” Award of Outstanding Leadership & Service was presented to Hon. Akaliro on Saturday, August 8, 2026, during the Ofeme women’s August meeting.

According to the women, the award was presented in recognition of Akaliro’s “outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment to public service and impactful contributions to the development of our community and Ohuhu at large.”

The recognition highlights the appreciation of Hon. Akaliro’s efforts as a representative of the people of Umuahia North (Ohuhu), particularly his engagement with communities and responsiveness to issues affecting his constituents.

The “Ome Nma Mba” honour, which connotes a “doer of good in a community” or “helper of the community,” is particularly significant as it comes from a women’s group within the community, reflecting their appreciation of leadership they believe has positively impacted the people.

The presentation formed part of the activities marking the women’s August meeting, which brought together members of the Ofeme Progressive Union Women’s Wing from home and abroad.
