GOMEP Seeks Stronger Partnership with Presidency, Commends Tinubu’s Reform Agenda
The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a stronger partnership with the Presidency in advancing responsible journalism, strategic communication, and national development, while applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform-driven administration.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Guild, led by its National President, Comrade Otiti Akpovoke, to the Presidency in Abuja.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, conveyed the President’s appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to sustain a productive relationship with credible online media organisations in promoting responsible journalism, effective public enlightenment, and national development.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Akpovoke commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold and courageous leadership in restructuring Nigeria’s economic framework. He acknowledged that while the administration’s reforms may take time to yield their full impact, they represent decisive steps toward building a more resilient and prosperous economy.
The GOMEP President noted that the Guild is committed to establishing a structured and mutually beneficial partnership with the Federal Government to enhance strategic communication, facilitate timely dissemination of government policies and programmes, and strengthen the practice of credible and ethical online journalism across the country.
He added that such collaboration would not only improve public access to accurate information but also provide opportunities for the professional development and empowerment of online media practitioners through capacity-building initiatives, institutional support, and greater inclusion of qualified digital media professionals in national communication efforts.
As part of the visit, GOMEP-NG formally presented its strategic partnership proposal to the Presidency, outlining areas of collaboration aimed at promoting responsible digital journalism and supporting national development objectives.
The visit also featured the conferment of the Guild’s Excellence Awards on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, in recognition of their contributions to governance, public communication, and the advancement of democratic values in Nigeria.
