Hon. Akaliro Donates ₦1 Million to Boost Umuawa-Alaocha Community Security Initiative
The Honourable Member representing Umuahia North Ohuhu State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro, on Monday, June 29, 2026, joined other leaders, stakeholders, and residents at the Umuawa-Alaocha Security Summit and Fundraising, where he reaffirmed the importance of community-driven security.
Addressing participants during the fundraising event aimed at raising ₦50 million to strengthen security in the community, Hon. Akaliro stressed that every community must take the protection of lives and property seriously through proactive measures and collective responsibility.
Reflecting on the kidnapping incident of June 10, 2026, the lawmaker recalled witnessing the traumatic event and commended the courage and determination displayed by the youths of Umuawa-Alaocha under the leadership of the President-General, Hon. Chimex Nelcinn Uluocha. He praised their swift response and bravery, which led to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victims from their abductors.
Hon. Akaliro described the community’s decision to establish a local vigilante outfit as a timely and commendable initiative that would help prevent future security breaches and strengthen peace within the area.
In a demonstration of his commitment to the safety and development of the community, the lawmaker donated ₦1,000,000 towards the security initiative, drawing applause from attendees.
The donation came barely a day after Hon. Akaliro undertook the painting of the entire Saviours Evangelical Church in Umuawa-Alaocha, further underscoring his continued commitment to supporting community development and improving the welfare of his constituents.
