Traditional Rulers of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South Pass Confidence Vote in Gov. Otti, Reps Member Obi Aguocha
Traditional rulers from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South have unanimously passed a vote of confidence and pledged their continued support for the administration of the Governor of Abia State, , as well as the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, .
The endorsement was made during a community stakeholders’ sensitization and engagement for good governance held at the Gwurugwuru Palace of the traditional ruler of Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community, Umule na Umunso, Ekeokwuru in Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
The event was presided over by the Chairman of the Umuahia North Council of Traditional Rulers, , who emphasized that the gathering was part of a wider effort to cascade the message of good governance and civic participation across communities in the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Obi Aguocha appreciated the traditional rulers for recognizing what he described as the developmental strides of Governor Alex Otti across Abia State, as well as his own legislative engagements and constituency interventions over the past years. He reiterated his commitment to speaking against injustice and marginalization, while calling for national unity in addressing insecurity challenges.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts in education support through scholarships for young people and urged citizens to remain united in confronting terrorism and banditry affecting parts of the country.
In his remarks, Eze Innocent Adiele-Nwaigwe described the engagement as a continuation of earlier sensitization visits by the state traditional rulers’ council aimed at strengthening cooperation between government and local communities. He commended both the governor and the federal lawmaker for what he described as visible developmental impacts.
Other traditional rulers, including , , , , , and , also expressed satisfaction with ongoing infrastructure projects across their communities.
They particularly commended Governor Otti for road construction and other developmental interventions, while praising Chief Obi Aguocha for his legislative initiatives, including efforts linked to the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, to a teaching hospital affiliated with Michael Okpara University.
The traditional rulers jointly pledged their support for continued collaboration with both the state and federal representatives, expressing optimism that sustained partnership would deepen development and improve governance outcomes across the region.
The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Umuahia North, Chief Smart Iheoma, alongside other stakeholders and community leaders.
